like a birds imprint upon the sky
Boxed canvas, poured plastic, cardboard and oils. Just finished after sitting on for the better part of 2 years. I might wake up tomorrow and paint over it... figured I'd post it first.

A Dolphin's Promise
A Dolphin's Promise dolphin painted for Surf & Adventure. Cindy Graff started this non-profit to raise money to fight cancer and benefit the Lance Armstrong Foundation. This is the original done around 2006 maybe... it has faded, been repainted, faded and repainted again. The latest incarnation is the work of the very talented and outspoken Sarah Keane.

painting for S&A dock
This piece of wood was specifically cut to fit a lean-to at the shop. I planned on taking it home and bringing it back within a couple of weeks. Well, a couple of weeks turned into 2 or 3 years. I took an hour this morning and knocked it out. The weather was great and I had a blast.

above the lotus; below the lotus
Both paintings hang in my hallway at home and, barely noticeable, are the three people swimming up the channel in the bottom picture. Happy Easter.

never paint sailboats again
I had painted a couple of tropical islands and liked the colors so I attempted to paint from a photo of a sailboat. Part of the way through I knew I would never like the final piece and it sat for a day until I saw a newspaper article on a local punk band with an accompanying picture. Every now and again it feels like things are changing...this feels appropriate to what is happening again in my life.

painting a surfboard
This is a Surf & Adventure funboard that the Christian surfers of VB gave away. Chris Huggins and Chaplain Eric asked me if I could paint it and I figured I could whip something out. I had so much fun doing this... I had some leftover oils from painting my buddy Heath's van and thought a wave would be quick and easy. They raffled it off after Jesse Hines signed it, played some music with his band and answered the crowd of kids questions. Below is the lucky winner getting barely dried oil paint on his hands.

outrigger at PB's
I lived at PB's the summer of '99 and did a ton of painting in his garage on scraps of driftwood and whatever I could get my hands on. I think this still hangs by his front door, he has another piece in his outside shower (earlier post as PB's).

painting
I lived with my brother the summer of 2000 and filled the walls with paintings. I was catching the sunrise, working and surfing, then watching the sunset and painting at night. Billy would poke his head into my room and give a one or two word description of what he saw. I don't remember what he had to say about this one, but I do remember feeling good about painting it.
