like a birds imprint upon the sky

Boxed canvas, poured plastic, cardboard and oils. Just finished after sitting on for the better part of 2 years. I might wake up tomorrow and paint over it... figured I'd post it first.

some paintings from the distant future, year 2000

We did an event at S&A and let customers and staff paint pieces of paneling that we were going to hang in the store. Cody and Colin went with a robot theme and all night long they techno voiced "in the distant future- year 2000".  I laughed all night about that and would ask them to say it over and over and would repeat it myself. These paintings are from the year 2000, but have nothing to do with that event... they were done while I lived with my brother in shadow lawn and did not have a cell phone and only checked my email every couple of days.

Carving tikis inside the Majestic at Sandbridge

The first pole.
I taped off around the pilings in preparation for painting them after the carve. It ended up making it tough to clean up all the saw dust and shavings, but saved the floor from bar and chain oil.

Roughed out with chainsaw and grinder ready to chisel.
These are support poles so I could only go in an inch or so. And just like working on standing trees, when something is stationary, it takes a bit more patience than having it laying on the ground with easy access to all angles.

Painted and getting ready for move in. You can spot one more on the back wall that is part of a pair.

above the lotus; below the lotus

Both paintings hang in my hallway at home and, barely noticeable, are the three people swimming up the channel in the bottom picture. Happy Easter.

flute player

I did a bunch of painting during the summers of '99 and '00. Bought some acrylics and painted on anything I could get my hands on. Still have this one.
